Holbox Island, was founded in 1873, led by polbox name, now known as Maya Holbox which means black hole, also the inhabitants call it "The Island of Sharks."
Holbox, a place with roots in the Mayan culture, its people proud of their past and their identity, are both guardians of this unique paradise, stunning natural scenery of the Mexican Caribbean. Some time ago the island was a refuge for sailors even pirates. |

The island has approximately 5000 inhabitants, is located in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico on the north side of the Yucatan Peninsula, shared waters of the Caribbean and also for its location in the Gulf of Mexico waters, a few kilometers are famous cities like Cancun, Chichen Itza, Playa del Carmen, Valladolid and Merida.
